Our beginnings
Maxim Financial Markets (Maxim) was founded in 2014 by Wellington financial advisors, Peter Elenio and Terry O’Connor (since retired). Our goal is to develop a leading boutique investment advisory firm. In a very short time the business has grown as an increasing number of clients with different financial needs and aims have seen the benefits of what Maxim has to offer. Despite this success we have remained true to our founding principles, namely ensuring that the investment advice our clients receive is appropriate and delivered in a friendly, easy to understand manner.
Peter Elenio
Pietro (Peter) Giuseppe Elenio is a Financial Advisor.

Peter started his financial services career in various support roles in 2008 at a Wellington stockbroking firm. He began advising private clients in 2011. Since establishing Maxim Financial Markets, Peter has been advising clients in a range of capacities, everything from providing wealth management solutions for clients with lump sums to invest to using a combination of fundamental and technical analysis to identify opportunities for capital gains.
Peter has a strong passion for sport and still enjoys playing cricket, football and indoor netball. It is this love of sport that led Maxim to become a multi-year sponsor for the Wellington Tennis Open.

Steve Davey
Steven Michael Davey is a Financial Advisor.

Steve joined Maxim in 2020. Previously working in business development and marketing. Steve founded and developed business interests in Total Connect Limited and Total Clean Limited between 2009 and 2019, before divesting these companies as going concerns. Prior to this Steve’s resume includes business development and marketing roles within some well known New Zealand and Australian brands Spark, ANZ, Professionals, DHL, AGL and Contact Energy from 2000 – 2009.
Steve has a strong passion for sport and still enjoys playing cricket and football.

Kevyn Rendell
Kevyn Hugh Rendell is a Financial Advisor.

Kevyn has a wealth of experience in financial markets with a career dating back to 1976. Kevyn provides advice to a range of private individuals, family trusts and charitable organisations. His passion for investment is something that has allowed him to provide clients with thoughtful and appropriate advice through a range of market conditions. Kevyn is the latest advisor to join the Maxim team and is enthusiastic about the opportunities that lay ahead.
In his spare time Kevyn is a devoted family man who has recently become a Grandfather for the first time.

How Maxim Financial Advisors get remunerated.
Maxim Financial Markets Limited charge fees for the services provided. Your Financial Advisor(s) do not charge you any fees personally. There are situations in which Maxim Financial Markets Limited will be paid commissions by other organisations. The quantum of that payment may be dependent on the decisions that you make.
Your Financial Advisor is required to tell you the specific fees, commissions, extra payments, and other benefits that have been received, or will, or may, be received in relation to the services and products that are provided to you. Your Financial Advisor must tell you these things before providing a service or product, if that is not practicable, as soon as practicable after providing that service or product.
Maxim Financial Advisors remuneration may be comprised of:
A fixed salary; and/or
Commission payment based on attaining a minimum threshold of income or percentage of revenue generated. In the case of reaching an income threshold, this will be pro-rated per month and commission paid if the achieved income is over the threshold. Revenue can take the form of any of the above listed under the fees Maxim will charge you for the financial advisor services provided; and
Bonuses which may be paid purely at the discretion of Maxim directors.
Note: Peter Elenio is a director of Maxim Financial Markets Limited (Maxim). Kevyn Hugh Rendell contracts services to Maxim Financial Markets Limited, who provide delivery and execution services and compliance support for services rendered.
