When it comes to looking after my car, I’ve tried several auto mechanics to find someone I trust. I’m a little ashamed to admit that I don’t know too much about the finer workings of my cars mechanical parts, so I want an expert that I can trust to (a) advise me well on what my vehicle needs, but also (b) wouldn’t take advantage of my lack of knowledge on the finer details to advocate unnecessary and/or expensive work. I want a sound vehicle that services my needs and is well maintained without excessive fees and charges.
Likewise, many investment clients have very clear objectives from their investment portfolio. They would like a better return than stashing their hard-earned wealth under a pillow or in the bank, and they also would like an enjoyable and secure future. Yet they may not know exactly the best steps to take to achieve this. Ideally, they need an expert Financial Advisor and guide that they can trust.
To continue the vehicle maintenance analogy, we get that some people want to be intimately involved in investment making decisions and they fully understand the market drivers. Just as some people lift their vehicles bonnet and like to know what all the moving parts do. When they go to the mechanics, they can tell them exactly what the car needs.
The rest of us drive our vehicles between regular stops to refill the tank at the petrol station and put it through a car wash now and then. We take the car in for a service every time the warrant of fitness comes due, knowing that this is likely to be when we shall have our regular post WOF discussion with the mechanic about what the car needs to remain healthy until its next WOF. We leave it to our trusted expert mechanic to check and diagnose a change of oil, spark plugs, or brake pads.
At Maxim we cater for both kinds of investor through our Managed Portfolio or our Transactional Broking Service (read more).
